The personal property of the mountain man, Such items as a bullet mold, an awl, knives, a tin cup, his buffalo robe or a blanket capote, his pipe and tobacco, flint and steel, sometimes a small sheet-metal fry-pan, and other accouterments he considered necessary. Firearms were considered "pieces" or guns" and not possibles.

The leather bag in which the mountain man carried his possibles. everything from his pipe and tobacco to his patches and balls. What could not be carried in the bag were hung on the bags shoulder strap. Shooting needs were given first priority, kept where they could be found with ease and speed.
This bag is designed after the American frontiersman "possibles" bag. I carried one hunting for years and years.

It has no handle as it is made to be slung over your shoulder or across the chest "bandolero" style. It's 12.5 inches long ny 9 inches high. It has a pocket under the flap. The gusset is 5 inches so it will open and fill to about 4.5 inches. There are four pipe pockets inside, each will hold 2 normal to large sized pipes in their socks when placed bowl to stem. The rest of the bag is unlined. There is no hand stitching in the bag.

I'll only be able to make them when the right skins show up but I love the design so I'll be looking. I will do everything I can to keep the price of these bags low but this will be entirely dependant upon the price of the leather I use so it will fluctuate somewhat.

Our Standard Pipe Bags are made of leather with these exceptions; the stitching, which is #138 poly, the Nylon Coil Zippers and the brass hardware. There are no fillers. The bags for the most part are cowhide and buckskin. They are also available on a limited basis in other leathers such as bison, buffalo and bull. The entire bag is cut by hand and both the exterior and interior is machine stitched.

All Smokin Holsters pipe bags are designed to protect your pipes as they should be protected. The pockets are designed to expand and will hold two normal sized pipes in pipe socks when fitted bowl to stem in the pocket. I've tried to capture the essence of the bags in the pictures shown on the site however leather is a very tactile product and you can't truly appreciate the bags without feeling the leathers.

Very often the flaws, in the form of scars, brands and the animals inherent growth pattern will naturally become part of the leather and the design of the pouch.
